What should I do if there are pests in one of my rental units?

Contact a licensed pest control technician immediately.

Who is responsible for the cost of removing pests from a unit?

Any costs for removing pests from a rental unit is the responsibility of the landlord. If your tenant informs you of a possible pest infestation, then you should investigate and clean up the infestation immediately.

What if my tenant was responsible for the pest infestation?

If a landlord can prove that a tenant is responsible for the pest infestation, the landlord may be able to retain a portion or all of the tenant’s security deposit.
