What happens if there is a storm closure or a delayed opening on the day of my scheduled hearing?
The Rental Office follows provincial government announcements for Charlottetown for storm closures or delays. Announcements can be found on the provincial government website and the provincial government Twitter account. A specific announcement for the Rental Office will be made on the IRAC Twitter account.
If the Rental Office is closed on a day and time when a hearing is scheduled, the hearing will be moved to the next business day at the same time it was originally scheduled for.
For example, if a hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1 and the Rental Office was closed due to weather, the hearing would now be scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2.
If the Rental Office is delayed opening and opens before the scheduled time of you hearing, the hearing will still take place.
For example, if the Rental Office is delayed opening until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1 and your hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., your hearing will go ahead as scheduled.
However, if the Rental Office is delayed opening until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1 and your hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m., it will be rescheduled to Wednesday, December 2 at 9:30 a.m.
In the event of an early closure because of weather, if the Rental Office is closing before your scheduled hearing, it will be rescheduled for the same time the next business day.
For example, if your hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. and the Rental Office closes at 12:00 p.m. because of bad weather, your hearing will be rescheduled for Wednesday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m.
