The Residential Tenancy Office invites written comments, in English or French, from landlords and tenants on the 2027 maximum annual allowable rent increase. The deadline to submit comments is 4:00PM on Friday, August 14, 2026.
Under the Residential Tenancy Act, the Director of Residential Tenancy is responsible for setting the maximum annual allowable rent increase each year. This is the percentage amount that a landlord can raise the rent in a 12-month period. Under the legislation, the maximum annual allowable rent increase set by the Director cannot be more than 3%.
