Under Section 90(1) of the Residential Tenancy Act, the Director may conduct an investigation to ensure compliance with the Act and the Regulations whether or not the Director has accepted an application for a hearing in relation to the matter.

Appeals
Under the Residential Tenancy Act, an Order of the Director in respect of an administrative monetary penalty may be appealed to the Island and Regulatory Appeals Commission. An appeal must be filed with the Commission within 20 days after a copy of the Director’s Order is provided to the person who wishes to file an appeal.
